    Washer bottle

Morning guys, I've just bought a Stag washer bottle to replace the the one that was fitted by the previous owner but I'm a bit confused by the connections. There is two under the lid on the motor and one on top of the lid which I assume goes to the jets but also connected through to the inside of the bottle, can anyone clarify what goes where please.
    Cheers, Mike 20231221_094809.jpg

The set up you have with that bottle lid is for use with an aftermmarket external water pump. It is common for the original pump to fail as they are now 50 years old. So to keep the original look you fix an external washer pump to some place like the suspension turret or under the wing. The input side of the external pump is connected the tube coming out the top of the lid and the output of the pump to the washer jets.

If the original washer pump on the bottle is working, then the input to that pump would have that hose in your first picture connected to the input nozzle of that pump and a shorter hose, not seen in your pictures, connected from the output of the pump to the nozzle on the underside of the lid. The top of the lid nozzle would have a long tube that would connect direct to the washer jets.

Hope this makes sense. I will try and find some pictures later unless someone else beats me to it.

Great news if the original pump is working.

Here is picture of one on ebay that clearly shows the hose connections.

Working to get new impellors made for the trico washer pump.

last two batches came out too hard and two soft unfortunately.

I pulled apart a non working water powered nerf gun. the impellor was similar looking to the one in the Stags pump. it has crumbled.

Which one crumbled? Nerf or trico? Interesting!

With the MOT looming, I decided to look at improving the washer pump. I have tried reversing the original impeller and have tried one of Julian's 3D printed ones. Neither is really efficient.

I bought a new Tudor pump from Amazon and, with a bit of fiddling, made a new bracket for it to mount it vertically into an original type lid. I can now deliver copious quantities of water to the windscreen with just a very brief press of the washer switch. MOT passed, no advisories. Next move is to fit it to a correct, grey, lid.

Had 3 lots of impellors made.
Sadly the last two were too hard and then too soft.
so not able to offer worthwhile impellors at this time.
