all Xmas plans kyboshed. (Trip to Kent - broadstairs)
missus has been bad with covid.
engine replacement plans for local Soc member unaffected. (Already running, but has leaks)
slight delay due to postal services of a few un expected extra parts needed.
(we had two sets of inlet manifold gaskets…. Neither were suitable…. Gone are the times when one set would do! …. One set were junk (supplied in a headset kit) the others we had to hand were the thick type and not suitable
)

Inlet manifold gaskets being supplied in (specialist supplier ) kits are junk :- 1st pic good; 2nd pic not ok.
So basic and yet still junk being supplied by so called specialist suppliers!
to be fair, uploading pictures here is still pretty junk too!

I also had poor inlet manifold gasket from experts, bought the blue ones from SOC spares and cut my own slots. no leaks

Second lot definitely won’t work for the front, wonder if they are TR7 o Dolomite ones.
Even the Payen ones have the bolt holes in the wrong places I have found

I have to do this job again next week (water in the vee) Done the job several times, on my old Stag never had a problem sealing, on the new one I’ve never achieved a complete seal of the rear gaskets for more than a couple of months.
Is there a consensus of opinion as to what are the best gaskets available and a source for them?

Payen from LD Parts, but he is showing out of stock, email for restocking information. Worth an ask.
Otherwise, Robsport list improved design, with glass fibre reinforcement. No idea if they are any good:
