Don’t ever bolt cylinder heads up without using an inlet manifold to help.
Please please use the inlet manifold to draw the heads into alignment.
Heads should be snug torque only at this stage
Use wellseal on the head gaskets as a sliding medium.
Then fit manifold at this stage.
Failure to do this means the inlet manifold will almost always struggle to seal.
Use dirko ht or mhp p-u on the manifold.
Dont use badly cut inlet manifold gaskets….. plenty are still being included in H.G. ‘Kits’
Any head skimming must be perpendicular to inlet manifold faces.
Failure to follow the above can cause a lot of difficulties with sealing inlet manifold gaskets.
inlet manifold clearance holes can be enlarged, but no bigger than 9.5 mm max.
if they are larger, the boss strength will allow distortion of the joint faces.
