    No Bromley Pageant 2024

Mate just told me he heard the above purely based on ULEZ expansion as, although most display cars are exempt on age, the organisers cant risk lack of visitors as many of their cars will not be exempt - another example of Khanages actions making London less attractive to businesses / event organisers and the local economy

I’ve not been for years but that is so bad, the damage that waste of space and breath is doing is beyond belief!

It must be rough - Drakeford resigns in March but wants to do as much damage as he can first!

I agree its really sad that this has happened, I look back on many visits to these events - looking at cars, talking to owners, and rifling through boxes of parts.

It would be great to see Bromley Pageant relocated to Essex or Buckinghamshire, both of these County Councils refused to allow warning signs and cameras to be placed on their land. One or other of these areas could then be rewarded with the economic benefits of hosting the Pageant as a reward for their stance. If a location with improved road access could be found, lets say just outside the M25, it might also be possible to avoid the long queues, that would be another benefit. I'm not sure whether other home counties have taken a similar postition.

Why £12.50 too, why if it had to be, start ff as £5. Typical labour stealth tax to fund Khan. Money does not solve clean air, look at the underground pollution, way higher than a car. At work we have so many of his London entities insured and you would be shocked at his spending in certain areas. I can’t say anymore.

It is a shame that classic car shows are being cancelled, and given that the vast majority of cars in London are ULEZ compliant the organisers may be being overly pessimistic. However at the end of the day the evidence for ULEZ is very clear. It will reduce asthma, strokes, Alzheimer’s, bronchitis and lung cancers, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and respiratory infections. And, incidentally, it was Boris Johnson who first introduced the idea of ULEZ in 2014. Sadiq Kahn has merely followed through. This sort of hostility feels like the same sort of opposition that greeted safety belt legislation, the drink driving laws, and smoking bans when they were first suggested, and yet now the benefits are widely accepted.

To live inside M25 and to pay £12.50 every day even if you go to a shop is robbery and won’t make any difference whatsoever to health on a short run. It’s purely greed at £12.50 every trip. The Dartford crossing is £2.60 exaggerated way and I’m happy to pay that as it’s minimal but his tax is horrific and greedy and doesn’t help anyone except himself.

Electric cars are worse for the planet. Apart from the batteries plus slavery in some countries digging materials, it take over 9 years minimum for an electric car to break even due to its environmental building damage. By then batteries are redundant.

A report published recently claimed that they had (in London) measured spikes in air pollution particles which coincided with food outlets switching on their fryers. Get ready for a tax on fish & chips and kebabs

However at the end of the day the evidence for ULEZ is very clear. It will reduce asthma, strokes, Alzheimers, bronchitis and lung cancers, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and respiratory infections - absolutely agree that all these diseases are impacted by pollution and I remember when the Inner London Congestion charge was introduced the summer smog across the London skyline practically disappeared after a few years - but the new zone has so much green belt and wooded areas in comparison the case that these are polluting areas is at best questionable And, incidentally, it was Boris Johnson who first introduced the idea of ULEZ in 2014. Sadiq Kahn has merely followed through. This sort of hostility feels like the same sort of opposition that greeted safety belt legislation, the drink driving laws, and smoking bans when they were first suggested, and yet now the benefits are widely accepted. Have to totally disagree with this last sentence - in my 60+ years I do not recall any lengthy protests, violence and material damage being caused by any of these essential personal safety measures as has driven many to carry out because of the new Ulez zone.

ULEZ outside of central London is absolutely nothing to do with peoples health, it is 100% about Khan digging himself out of financial disaster as are the 20MPH limits he has applied across 87 miles of London roads and which actually cause more pollution in the process as cars are not running efficiently at 20MPH.

if he was worried about health he’d have shut down the tube network in its entirety as that is where the pollution is.
