    Camshaft Wear

I have both heads of the car and I found the last journal on both cams worn, the nominal dia on journals are 1 through 4 are 1,122 inches the rear or #5 journal 1.119 and on one 1.117 I can have this metal sprayed back to the nominal size but my main worry would be how would the hardness of the cam be effected, and is it worth it I checked with Rimmers new cam 42 pounds new kit including cam 102 plus shipping etc
Is this a problem with this cam I have a spare engine and a quick check indicates wear on the same cam journal any help or comments?

    cheers Stuart

I would have thought the metal-sprayer would have not only the right materials for cam journal use, but make sure it was correctly hardened too.....

The rear journal is the last one to get any oil, so if overall pressure was down on the engine it may have been starved of full lubrication for some time

Therefore I too would be far more interested in the head side of the bearings as the camshaft is relatively cheap....

I have the head in at work and finished stripping it today I will give it a closer inspection the head journals do not look like they are bad if I get a chance I will post some pictures.
I think most likely I will replace the camshaft on both heads.
