Long ago I found an article in a German newspaper comparing a BMW 507 from 1955 and a Mercedes Benz 300 SL from 1956. Title "Two for eternity".

Stag was streets ahead technically and a different era. Lots more sense, but 1/100th of the value, or less.

I fully agree - have never liked those two German cars - in fact I think that the best looking and innovative cars came from Italy and (partly) from UK. Aston Martin Lagonda, Austin 1100 and the Wedgie excepted!

A real shame that UK had a government in the decisive years that seemed to hate British car, aircraft and energy industries for some obscure reasons.

It amazes me that when you walk around Gaydon and look at all of those prototype cars , that you can see them in other manufactures successfully models of years later.

My intention was not to ignite a dicussion about politics and technique. I just wanted to show that our beloved Stag can (easily?) compete with the disign of these exremely expensive icons.
But I admit: the Stag will never fetch 2+ million € (BMW 507) or 3+ million € (300 SL)

Thanks Klaus for the comparisons, all good fun! Much like sporting heroes, it is very difficult to compare one era with another. Values are a weird mixture of rarity + perceived desirability + myth. Arguably our Stags do not tick any of these three boxes! But we are in the know of course where the market is not!
