Hard top and the C post

The latest magazine, in the hardtop article, suggests that there was a mkI and mkII hardtop. The mkII having tinted glass and vents in the C post. Of course, there is no reason to expect a mkII Stag to have a mkII hardtop, and mine doesn't - my mkII Stag has a mkI hardtop. But being curious I did a search on the web, and I couldn't find a single picture of a mkII hardtop. Do they exist? Can anyone post a picture of what the side vents look like?

    Just curious.

My ‘77 mk2 has an original hardtop. Yes all glass has a light tint to match the windscreen and the vents you mention are small mesh vents on the inside of the hardtop’s rear pillars and are not visible from the outside.

The glass in the hard top I don't think was a mk1 or mk2 thing or perhaps it was in UK. I have a couple of hard tops here in USA that have matching Sundym tinted glass to my 71 Fed. Stags.

It was here. Sundym glass was fitted to Stags, including hard top, from LD20001 (Mk2) October 72. Before that, it was clear glass.

The rusty hardtop which came with my current (late LD20001 series) Stag was sold on as I had the restored top which belonged to my Mk1 Stag. This now has had the clear glass replaced with Mk2 Sundym glass, but no vents.

I have a Mk1 and a Mk2 tops which i had restored and recovered. They now are impossible to fit properly. The hang up seems to be the B post holes not lining up with the pins....This must be when they fitted them to the top. Is it an easy thing to adjust these without taking the thing apart ?

Both now have the air vents as the holes are there. All i did on the MK1 was buy the plastic covers, cut the lining material and fitted them to the top. Both tops have tinted glass.

this might help. The main problem is to disconnect the electrical bullet connector if you have to undo many turns of the pins - perhaps not necessary to slightly budge them

Here is are the picture you requested of the vents, i have a mk2 hard top but a mk1 Stag, i just bought the mk2 hard top because it was in better condition then the original mk1, apart from the vents and the tinted glass, no difference.

Thanks, I was expecting some difference on the outside. However as there isn't, I assume the air is extracted out of the bottom of the back corners of the top.

No, there is plenty of play in all horizontal directions too.

                        I've got a Mk1 Stag with a Mk2 hard top!!

You can see my vents in this posts... (both are rotten and will need to be replaced!)
