    Noisy Clutch

Hi all, at the weekend we did the Club Triumph historic counties run which was an epic 1100 mile trip from Essex to the coast of Wales for the start, then most welsh counties then lots of northern ones via the cat & fiddle and snake pass finishing up in Lancashire 14 hours later for a Gymkhana type auto test. Then back home to Essex. The Stag was great doing around 27 to the gallon with the only problem being the loss of overdrive which was traced to the cable fraying as it enters the gear lever this was quickly but not very elegantly fixed but cutting off the cable and fitting another switch half way down the gear stick.
Anyway I'm waffling the reason for the post is that when the clutch is depressed I get a strange whirring almost gurgling noise that disappears once the pedal is released. This has been getting progressively louder as the miles racked up this weekend and whilst the car still drives fine and the clutch is smooth with no problems I'm wondering what the noise is and what catastrophe is lurking round the corner.
    So anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Floyd.

I'll wager that the release bearing is lunch.

When it starts to sieze up it will be quiet as a nuns fart until it meets with the clutch pressure plate and then will howl away.

What do the rest of you lot think?
