Also should have mentioned to ensure that the hole is clean. I used a small brass wire wheel in a cordless drill.

One of the issues with rubber and plastics is that they perish not only in use but over time as well, especially when exposed to the atmosphere and UV light.
I would be very sceptical about using nos rubber bushes. Damaging whilst installing them is to me a warning about not using them in your car. They could very well disintegrate on your first trip out. Possibly causing a dangerous situation.
If originality is your thing, which I do get, then get the cheap rubber ones. Though once installed the black super flex type look fine and will last a long long time.

I watched an amazing video on youtube of a guy, Kevin Martin, who had printed these tubes to stop the expansion of rubber and it worked perfect.
Does anyone have something similar please that i could borrow just to do the job, please pretty please, i have just ordered another set of four bushes and i don't want to ruin any more if i can help it.
Many thanks

had about 2 hours spare.
car was going on a run shortly afterwards…. So time was limited.
released the trailing arm bush ends …. Dropped down about 4”.
used a cobalt drill on the rubber.
removed old bush.
cleaned up the hole.
tried to push new rubber bushes using metal cylinders, bolt and washers etc with lube…. No success .
Did have some poly bushes to hand.
Tried fitting poly bushes…. Took about 2 minutes each bush.
sorted. Back together in time for the run out.
totally understand the preference for rubber over poly.
apart from the often short life of rubber thesedays sadly…. As per dave Taylor’s commentLast edited by jbuckl; 28 April 2024, 22:20.
