    Torquatrol lifespan?

The Torquatrol that I fitted in March 2020 has failed - it's solid, no movement at all. It only did about 7,400 miles before I took the car off the road in August 2022 to rebuild the bodyshell. Now that I've refitted the fan it's solid and makes a hell of a row when the car gets up toi speed. It's a Robsport TKC101 that I bought in February 2020.

Has anyone had similar early failures?

Yes. I bought my current Stag in April 2008. Fitted a new TKC101 from a well known supplier in May 2008. This failed (spewed out its grease) in Nov 2008 and was replaced under warranty. This one failed in the same way in May 2009. Supplier sent me one from Tony Hart but it was never fitted as, by then, I had bought a NOS Land Rover ERC2849. This is still working fine nearly 15 years, 50,000 miles later. I had hoped that the quality of the replacement TKC101 units might have improved by now, but it seems not.

If you look at RB website, you will find TKC101 at just shy of £100 incl VAT. Search on the same website for ERC2849 and they list 3 options. "Aftermarket" at less than £70, "OEM" at £130 and "Genuine" at £390. Quite a variation in price for what is, essentially, the same thing.
