My Damson 1971 is obviously not quite the right colour.
I've bought 2x rattle cans from different suppliers/sources and neither match the car nor each other.
I'm hoping to find a local firm offering the custom mix option near Grantham.
A standard can has cost ~£20, how much can I expect for a custom mix based on a scan of the existing paintwork?

A local firm which combines car breaking (scrappy) with automotive refinishing did a scan of the non-standard paint on my Stag and mixed a rattle can. Colour match pretty much spot on. Cost was about 20 quid.

Also worth trying the TSSC club shop - they have most original Triumph paint colours available in rattle cans and reasonably priced.
The TSSC shop was where my second rattle can came from
It was closer but visibly not the same.
Still, sounds like a custom can isn't going to break the bank.
Time to hit Yellow Pages.

Your paint may not be a Triumph paint, Red and yellow are the worst for fading, go to a paint shop there scan your car and you should get the best match.
Took the Stag to a paint matcher.
The best they could come up with was close but just not quite close enough.
To be fair it was a young lad using the kit and he struggled to get a good reading.
He said their guru was on leave so perhaps try again.
Who knew Ford Medium Currant Red was almost the same as Triumph Damson 17 which is almost the same as mixed by a Dublin resparyer in 1992.
If only we knew what colour the Irish guys used.
A stallholder at the MG & Triumph spares show suggested sending a part to him for a match.
He promised a custom colour rather than a 'best fit'.
Trouble is there aren't any small postable parts on a Stag - boot lid is about as small as it gets - at least with a decent covering of paint on it. - my door hinges have a dodgy finish.
