Suitable Engine oil grade.

Hi. Up to now I have always used Millers Classic 20/50 oil. But as I am about to order some oil for another car I have had a look at oils for the Stag. All there Stag oils are quoted at 10/40 synthetic or semi synthetic including the Millers Pistoneeze. Is this grade ok? The Stag runs at around 25psi on tick over when warm and around 40 when motoring. I know I have to check up on the zinc content with Opie. The car is only driven in summer and not hard. Any ideas or comments before I speak with Opie? Thanks very much.

The stag still requires mineral 20w50.
most other oils will find their way past the oil seals.

This is what I use. I checked with their technical team and this formulation has between 1200-1300ppm of ZDDP (it varies in each batch a little so they couldn’t be exact). I also use their 5w30 in my 4.4 TDV8 Range Rover. They’ve been blending oils for 100 years and use shell base oils.

i have used the motor spirit heritage 20/50 for a numer of years bothin the stag and my previous scimitar gte and been very happy with it

grade/quality wise it is API SF/CD which sits between the Smith n Allen (API SE/CC) and the Fuzz Townsend Heritage (API SL/CH)

Millers do a 20w50 Pistoneeze. ZDDP might be a little less than 1,200. I'd after find my e-mail's to and from Millers to be certain. I have no problem using it and get mine via Brown & Gammons.

Fuzz's classic oils all the way for me, decent filter is just as important, some available from "trusted" suppliers are not great quality.
