I had one rebuilt by a club member on the forum, on going to fit it, it appears that the new one I had fitted previously had possible led to scoring of the block so I have ended up fitting a blanking plate and the EJ ward external electric water pump. Its a good solution but 15 x the price of refurbed water pump. So my refurbed has not been used. Why did I look to replace the new one I had bout from the normal suppliers? Because there are lots of stories of the new ones failing and damaging the J shaft, hence installing a new one as a short term item to be replaced by rebuilt one. happy to discuss further if you wish, John

I met Trevor a while back when I was in Kent having a new hood/frame fitted at S.E.T. He has very firm opinions about water pumps and header tanks in Stags. Only the original type water pump in his engines, and definitely no header tanks. He was somewhat dismissive of my external, belt-driven water pump and Volvo header tank!
