I was thinking of fitting one too. I just wish it had a level switch, Terry

      Hello Terry,

...Or at least a sort of "looking glass"...

      Kind regards, Dieter.

          Hello Terry,

I am only thinking of adding such a "looking glass" to the EJ.Ward header tank.

          Kind regards, Dieter.

Would not a good quality re reinforced clear bottom hose suffice?, water level will be visible.

            Sukh.

The reason Wards didn't have a sight glass fitted is that it weakens the integrity of the tank, that tube could blow off, all pressure would be lost and the engine would boil. Martin.

Yes, I have fitted one, see the pictures below on the page "Painted Header Tank"

You are right it is silly expensive for what it is. I dont like the square box look, I much preferred the blue tank also in the link, looks much better.I also think a level sensor should be in for this price. I also painted it the same colour as the car as not a great lover of thisdull chrome typelook.

What I really liked is their silicon hose T Peice, that is definitely good IMO. I wanted to change the top hose any hose so this was a good time to buy it.

Any further questionson the tank just let me know

                    Give over Martin!

Adding a couple of 1/4"BSP bosses would not weaken the integrity of the tank. If someone did use push-fit fitting like in the photo you can buy them suitable for the temperature, pressure no problem at all we use them at work for 10 Bar plus. However a sight-glass like I used, rather than a sight-tube I think is more appropriate.

Here is the link to the sightglass that I used for my custom tank, that could be retro-fitted to the Wards tank:

Give over ? don't shoot the messenger, I'm passing on what the manufacturer said ! You're solution's not quite the same as two rubber elbows ! As for retro-fitting, at what cost ? Martin.

Just purchased a Volvo radiator header tank with level sensor, hopefully will be easier to set up than the Granada one.

Will keep you updated, could take a while after all the other jobs!

I had my level sensor wired to a high pitched buzzer, it went off on the way home after the rolling road, frightened the cr*p out of me, forgot I had fitted one,2 pounds inc postage.
