    Courtesy light switch puzzle

I've got an early MK2 with MK1 doors and the door switch has two wires.
My switch is currently held together with superglue.
Replacement 2 wire switches seem a bit shorter than the ones fitted to mine so the light stays on when the door is shut. Inspection shows the "New" ones to have a shorter plunger. (Yellow rather than black & 2 wires connected to the spade clips but no red wire to feed the puddle lamp)

    Anyone come across this issue?

ISTR someone suggesting a stick on pad applied to the door, a rubber “foot” may do it?

That's plan B, just wonder if there is an obscure switch.

This may be a piece of useless info, but I have noticed that the plungers on the early switches with yellow plungers and two electrically floating switch contacts are typically 13/16" in height above the chassis vs. 15/16" for the plungers on the later switches with red plungers and one contact which grounds to the chassis.

I haven't gotten around to this, but is it possible to 3d print a spacer to bring the switch out a bit?

Make sure the door switch is insulated. If you had cause to pull the switch out and touched the metal it may have blown the fuse. The yellow door switchs are note the best. Puddle light and footwell light problems I trace back to the light switch on the console. Make sure they’re clean and are a firm fit. I spent hours tracing light problems back through the door switch to the console. Some of the replacement switches are not of particularly good quality…. Lucas wiring!!!!!!!

We had a Toledo and the light switch was a single wire to earth. I thought my Mk1 Stag was the same. Was I wrong. I will never forget that burnt smell of insulation. Very recently, I was in my wife's Telsa. I had the windows open and got a wiff of that same burnt wire smell.

That explains it - mine's a yellow switch and the black ones are too short to switch it off.
Are there any sources of the yellow ones or I will have to pad out my 1/8th of an inch.
