in the shed at the back...lol

they were only fitted on very late cars, and there was i believe a hole in the lower wing to put them. there are a couple of cars in the rimmers cat that have them i think for a point of reference.

You'll struggle with this one Alan, basically put them where you think they look right.

          found this.....

They seem to be in slighty different
          places on different cars.
There is evidence to suggest Dealer fit and no clear positioning
          instructions.

I do not see them on early cars before Oct/Nov 1971, except for car LD1
which acquired them on a trip to Belgium in 1970 but later had them removed.

Additionally they are not on all cars after 1971 but perhaps were supposed
          to be.

I suspect it was way beyond the Triumph mind set to put anything with the
words British Leyland on one of their lovely Triumphs. After all Leyland
made Trucks and Buses and anything more removed from the image of Triumph is
          hard to imagine.

Donald Stokes, boss of BL as from 1968 probably insisted the badge go on
when he saw one without it.

Us employees, all from different stables (BMC, Jag etc) lovingly knew that
          symbol as the Flying Arsehole.

As for variation in positioning the badges some are two badge widths forward
of the door gap and others are 1.5. Same is true of height above the
          horizontal swaged moulding.

The best bet is to find several original photos and measure them to arrive
          at the optimum spot.

James Taylor suggests in his book Original Triumph Stag, these badges were
sometimes left off at the behest of the customer, so I think, even in terms
of maximum authenticity, use of the badge and its positioning are both
          optional.

I should state that I have nothing against the venerable old Marina

A 73 1.3 automatic (you might think slow but it was a roller for me) 4 door in teal Blue was the first car I drove after passing my driving test, and very soon after that it was the first car that I plughed forwards off the road at very low speed and in no time at all was the first car that I unfortunately wrecked .Mother was so pissed off that she replaced it with a dayglo orange Allegro estate

I was making a humorous statement about "sticking the badge on / in your shed" and that poor old thing is most definately a shed.

i agree with Nick, the only correct place for the BL badge is left off the car

A friend of mine had an Allegro when I was a student, the locking mechanism on the seat had gone kaput so you had to pull yourself forward with the steering wheel to reach the pedals . Not sure how an emergency stop would have worked!!!

never really liked it anyway, it had one of those square steering wheels, had bruses on the palms of my hands from letting it slip through, weird, who came up with that one!!
