So what is the collective view, I like the simple look but am wondering if stripes will enhance it

Early cars had a visibly more noticeable crease.
imho the stripe was added after the tooling wore and the crease became softened.
stripe was used to accent the crease / uplift.
the red 4x4 stag has the crispest crease of any stag I’ve seen… no coachline.
took a lot of fettling to achieve by all accounts.Last edited by jbuckl; 26 May 2024, 18:17.There are 2 secrets to staying on top :- 1. Don't give everything away.

That's one of the reasons a stripe was fitted I reckon, apart from suiting the car the amount of fettling needed to get the doors to line up with the wing and rear quarter panel on the production line was probably taking too much time so fitting a double stripe above and below the swage line made it look right first time

My vote is for the stripe (on a MK2) . Firstly, it is as original and, secondly, it does slim down the car in my view.Last edited by MikeParker; 1 June 2024, 09:44.

I like a later sanction car with gkn alloys and a stripe.
Id love an early RVC prefix registration car with no stripe and stainless rostyle trims…. But £40,000+ makes me live with the mk2 later sanction (1973) car…..for now. There are 2 secrets to staying on top :- 1. Don't give everything away.
