threaded rod always helps in these situations as the battery is not always the same size.
Biggest issue with the traditional stag battery clamp is that the original battery had a nice step 3/4" below the top of the battery that the clamp fitted into. New battery is more or less flush across the top. So use a standard battery clamp and there is a chance that the +ive terminal will be closer to the clamp than you want it to be.. might be fabulous right now but wait until some twat in a prius taxi pulls out in front of you and you contact. battery +ive earths out and you have a free firework display
