    Underside of the bonnet

    Have I got the right bonnet? The bonnet is making contact with the studs of the suspension.

    I’d be more inclined to think the studs were too long. Have you got the rubber pads that sit under the top of the bonnet?

      There is no other bonnet that will fit a Stag, so It will be the studs in the replacement top mounting. They are too long, and metric! .
      They should only just protrude beyond the nylock nuts so you will have to cut them down to size.
      Typical.

        Common issue from what I have seen, although better to have them too long than too short.
        Threads being metric I don't see as an issue personally, I have a box full of M8 stainless nylocs.

          Yup, had to grind mine down after I fitted new roller top mounts. If they still hit the bonnet when just one thread protrudes from the nyloc nuts, then summat else is up.
          Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

            Just been out and laid a sheet of card of the top of my strut mount and then closed the bonnet. upon lifting again there is no mark that suggests the strut top nuts are anywhere near the inside face of the bonnet.

            The OP issue is down to the incorrect length of stud on the new mount. Oddly enough I have been piling through the last few years of club magazines and this issue was raised a year or so ago. Good to see that the suppliers are advising the customers of the issue

              I believe all the replacement top mounts come from India, apart from rubber bonding failing, wrong length and wrong thread studs, they are fine.

                You missed out the inner sleeves being either too long or too short that leads to them binding (Too short) or knocking over bumps (too long), or maybe thats what you meant by wrong length

                    made to a cost rather than a quality. i.e. not Indian/Chinese/whoever fault as they are often asked to make something at the lowest possible cost. Well something has to give doesn't it?

                    Then shifted out through the main online suppliers.

                    When questioned about selling rubbish they may reply, "we sell loads, never* had a problem yet"
