Hi all, does anybody know whether I can remove the diff rear mounting plate without dropping the diff itself ? I'm getting a bit ancient to go exploring. Martin.
The diff mounting plate is attached to the diff with four nuts on studs. These have locking plates in place. If you want to remove the mounting plate without dropping the diff I think youmay be struggling.
If you just want to change the mounting bushes then this can be done - just.

I would have thought so, Put a jack under the diff. undo the 2 rear mountings and lower the jack. You may need to slip the exhaust mounts off on the boot floor. I would be wary of lowering it too far or hanging the diff unsupported as it will strain something like the diff nose or exhaust.
A ratchet ring spanner should undo the four 1/2 inch af nuts. though watch out for the lock tabs.
what are you up to?

I didn't have any locking plates on mine:shock:, just nylock nuts.
Changing the bushes was easy enough without removing the diff, not sure about removing the mounting plate in situ.
