    Selling my project

It comes with great sadness that I am having to sell my Stag project due to personal reasons

I would like to say thanks to the community with the help you have given, and also the encouragement

With the above in mind, I hope the admins dont mind me asking if anybody is interested in buying the Stag, lock stock and barrel. (I am not a trader so hopefully its ok)

Its pretty much 90% hole free now, just a few jobs to finish, welding on the two rear wing panels, and the front valence and repairs to the upper headlight panel (I have a part repair panel for that), and just a few other holes here and there.

then of course putting the wings, sills, doors all back together.

So I have practically all the panels, missing the drivers rear wing section.

I have 2 nos front wings, 3 nos sills (two passenger and one driver), 2 front lower valence's (one is NOS but has surface rust), a nos rear valance but I didnt need it), two door skins.

Also included will be all my tools I bought as they are no longer required, R-Tech 181 mig welder and auto clearview helmet), new air compressor, all the air tools, and all the clamps/manual tools etc.

Also the dolly I made for easy transport of the shell, and the rotisserie.

Of course all the parts that I stripped form the car, all bagged and marked up.

The only thing its missing are the two heads, but I think its possible to pick a couple up somewhere.

The car was a runner before I stripped it.

As I said, very sad to see it go, but cant be helped, but maybe in the future I can jump on another one at some point.

Anybody interested, or if you know anybody looking for a good project please make me an offer, you will need a trailer for the car and a van for everything else if interested.

    Cheers
    Kev

Hi Tony, not really too sure, the tools are probably worth around 1500 quid, and the panels are probably worth over 2000, then of course there is the car itself. If somebody makes a reasonable offer I will consider it, it will be a great solid shell when the last few body jobs are complete thats for sure

Sorry to see that you need to sell this Kev, I was really enjoying your journey learning to molest bodywork............good luck for the future.

Also sorry that you need to sell this Kev. It was great to see how you dived in at the deep end and were making real progress

I thought kevs efforts and achievements were (are) right up there…. Making his own soft tooling and pressings for sure… very impressive.

Went to see it all a few weeks back.

i got shed envy too! Plenty of space !

Thanks for the kind comments, I was always trying to push my limits of what I could do, I'm not saying I wont be back to have another go in the future, but I have kind of changed my life plans and the Stag doesnt fit into those plans at the moment.

I could actually have continued with the restoration, but would have needed to sell the Stag when done, and would have been difficult I think to recover the amount of cash I would have had to put into it to make that option worth while.

But, having said that, now I am thinking about it, my original plan was to do a nut and bolt restoration but heavy on the modification side (again one reason was to push my limits on what I could achieve), Was going to change the colour to silver with cream leather interior too.

I guess another option for me would to be to finish the shell and get it painted (but keep it the original yellow, and clean up the original interior), and then just bolt everything back on as it came off, fixing things that need to be fixed as I go, no intricate cleaning or any modifications or anything like that, just a blast with the jet wash to clean stuff up, I guess then the only major costs would be the paint job, and reconditioning the engine and possibly have the gearbox done while its out.

Will also be a much quicker completion time.

Money isnt a problem for what I wanted to do with the Stag, but I have another (much bigger) lifestyle change project in mind which I would need the money for. I guess if I could keep the rest of the restoration to under 10K, it may be an option to keep going with it.

I wonder if I could learn painting, whats the worst that could happen, sanding back and painting again ?

I got some thinking to do.

Hello Kev, I have followed your posts with interest and I think your achievements are impressive. On the cash side of things, my car is probably worth 1/3 of what I've spent on it, even though I have done a lot of work myself, but what I have learned and the satisfaction I've got from it is beyond price. However I also understand the frustration of personal situations getting in the way of progress, often its situations beyond one's control. At times various people tried to nudge me to offload my unfinished project during long periods when it was stalled, and I thought long and hard about what to do for the best. But in the end, I came back to the fact that I was emotionally invested in the enterprise, again for personal reasons, and ultimately wanted to see it through.

Anyhow, whatever your decision, I'm sure many of us on the forum will know where you're coming from as we've been in the same place ourselves.

Gosh, that came as a shock! The way you tackled, fixed and documented everything was right up my street.

I must admit that, if I hadn't managed to complete my resto when I did, I could have seen myself in a similar situation now. Life moves on, expectations change, situations change, and it's brave man who faces up to the challenge, and it looks like you're facing up to it in the same way as the challenges in the restoration.

I wish you all the best for the future, and that your Stag finds a good home.

                    Cheers

                    Drew

Thanks again for the kind words everybody, means a lot.

So I have been thinking today and have decided I am going to sell the Stag, But I think I will keep the welder and mask, and probably put the rotisserie on ebay, and possibly put the compressor on ebay too.

So essentially will be selling the car as it stands as a project, including the dolly so its easy to move around, without the tools.

If you could put the feelers out on any of the facebook groups would be great, will also list it on ebay I guess at some point.

                      cheers

An air compressor in the garage is a very useful thing - maybe rethink selling that?

oh yes! pumping up bike and car tyres, blowing out dust and biscuit crumbs from upholstery, the list goes on...

And don't forget blowing the water out of your garden irrigation systems prior to the onset of freeezing temperatures!

Hi Kev , sorry to hear of this. Must have been a tough decision. Like others have said, always enjoyed following your threads and sharing details.

I've recently decided to leave my part time job to be fully retired and concentrate on my projects, Stag restoration being the main one BUT ... it's always a worry in the back of my mind if ever my personal circumstances (health, finances etc) change, or the wife's for that matter, to prevent me following my interests.

                              Best regards, Ray
