Hi guys, my heater blower motor has suddenly stopped working. I have changed the switch but still no joy. Fuse is OK. Does this mean I'm going to have to remove entire heater assembly or is it possible to remove just the blower motor on its own? Any help/advice would be gratefully received! THANKS

If you take out the radio you'll find the three-pin connector to the heater blower behind it. Check you have 12v on there when the heater is switched on (grab a circuit diagram if you need to know the wire colours) because if neither the high or low speed work it's possible a fault outside the motor. Getting to the motor does involve taking the heater out and that is not fun.Richard

I’ve had this problem before. I got my one going again by “kick starting it” by disconnecting the plug by the tunnel and putting 12v directly on to the appropriate connections. From memory one earth, two live feeds one slow speed the other fast speed. It worked for me. Once going reconnect plug.

Afraid to say the motor is buried inside the heater box.
However when refurbishing a really old tatty one, the brushes were only slightly worn…. So there’s hope yous is an external electrical fault.
usually all the sponge inside has turned to mush by now…. So a refurb can address that.
the heater has about 75 self tappers in total!
having done mine, it still didn’t function correctly…. Turned out it was the switch after all!
incorrectly wired up!
iirc the wiring diagram doesn’t show the correct connections (not incorrect, just missing)
fixed it by trial and error I think.
a heater rebuild is time consuming.
but gives good satisfaction when done.
cast levers have to be pulled off …. Mark them with a scribe line first! There are 2 secrets to staying on top :- 1. Don't give everything away.

Thanks for replies so far guys. This is wired as per Haynes manual and ROM. Can I doublecheck that is right? I eventually found heater cable connector buried more or less under the auto shifter and no power seems to be getting that farYou do not have permission to view this gallery.
