I am having trouble fitting the chrome strip to the boot lid. I have put 8 new clips in it but it will not stay in place. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ditch the clips.
Attend to any raw metal they might have caused.
Attach using pu sealer in 3/4/5 places. (Ends , middle maybe 2 more… only a few mm needed)
Secure till dry with wide masking tape or maybe duct tape (if the paint can withstand duct tape adhesion strength)
