    Courtesy light switch.

As part of the ongoing rewiring, I am puzzled as to which wire attaches to the courtesy/puddle switch in the door pillars. There is no wire attached to either switch. This might explain why the light on the drivers door stayed on all the time. Solved by removing the bulb. I assume that it would be an earth wire ie black, but the wiring diagram in the ROM shows it joining 2 purple wires. There is only one spade terminal on each switch. As usual, I rely on the Collective Wisdom!

There are two versions of the interior light switch system. One uses a switched positive which will need an insulated switch with two terminals, the other system uses a switched negative which has one wire and a single terminal on the switch. Early cars with the interior lamps on the door pillars used the earlier version, later cars with the interior lamps on the T-bar used the later version, but there are cars built in 1972/73 which might have the later lamps and the earlier wiring. You'll have to do some more investigation to find out which you have!

Well know that the ROM is not correct in a few places.
Certainly not correct in the 'Courtesy Light Switch' wiring shown for the "Courtesy', 'Puddle' and 'Footwell' lights. Many post about that and a few diagrams. Let me know if you need a redrawn diagram.

For LD20001 on the below is correct:

For the spade male plugs (numbered correctly on the ROM) on the back of the courtesy light switch on centre console:
-plugs 1 and 2 are incorrectly shown as Purple and incorrectly connected to purple, they're all black and obviously connected to earth.
-plug 3 incorrectly shown as PW and shown as going to the left hand side of the vehicle, the wire is PO and runs to the right hand side lights of the vehicle. One PO wire to the RH footwell and one PO wire to the RH courtesy (T bar) light. There is a Purple wire either side of these RH lamps/bulbs.
-plug 4 should read PW and not PO and should read as going to the LH side of the vehicle. Two wires again (PW) running to the LH side of the vehicle. One to the LH T bar light and one wire to the LH footwell light. Again with a purple wire either side of these bulbs/lamps.
-plug 7 should read PR and not PS. PR runs all the way to the RH door switch. This PR wire has a connecting plug as well, connecting to a Purple wire that runs to the RH door puddle lamp. The RH door puddle lamp has another Purple colour wire as well on the other side of the puddle lamp bulb.
-plug 8, same applies as plug 7 above and the correct colour should be PS.
Both left and right T bar bulbs connect to one purple wire; purple wire circuit.
