    Rear springs

So today l had a few minuets, so l thought l would clean up the rear springs. WELL, that didn't go well.... ALL information and videos show that the spring just falls out and replacing is just as easy.
NOT on my car ! The springs are longer than shown and l will need to compress them somehow. DAM

    Spring is 12 1/2 ''

I have always had to compress them.

Then I read if you remove the drive shafts then the trailing arm can lower enough for the spring to just fall out. I think that is easier than getting spring compressors in there. It is painful.

Never had to compress, just release the damper.
Some cars did need the shafts off though.

I've had to take the shafts of the diff and drop the arm. someone suggested disconnecting the trailing arms.

Didn't have this issue with mine when stripping down to a bare body shell, didn't need the drive shafts disconnected either, just the shocks removed. Even fitting them back wasn't an issue when I had to refit the complete rear suspension back in one piece as had to relocate the car as a rolling body shell.

With lowered springs, they can come out but with healthy stock for sure they wont.

It must be variable depending on the angles on each particular car. I’ve had the case where they just fall out and the other when I have to release the driveshafts. No two cars are the same, I guess?
