    Radiator fittings

Hi all, my car is a '77 Stag, the radiator sprung a leak where the filler neck goes into the tank and is away being repaired. My query is is there rubber washers/buffers on the bottom two retaining bolts to avoid vibration similar to the top two retaining bolts or is it just bolted down onto the cross member. There is nothing showing in the Repair Operation Manual only the top rubber washers, thanks in advance.

    Bolts straight onto cross member.

No harm in adding thin rubber washers between the radiator and support panel. I used rubber penny washers, which are readily available.

sxl01 I was surprised by your mention of a washer/buffer on each radiator top mounting bolt, as I was not aware they existed. However, the parts book does indeed show them, part number 154777, and they are described as grommets, so presumably they fit in to the holes at the ends of the air duct. Although there have been none on my car at least since I bought it in 1990, perhaps I should fit some!

I use nyloc nuts at the top of the radiator, and just slightly nip them, not fully tighten them, to allow the radiator to move as it expands/contracts. I also have rubber "buffers" at the base.

Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.
