    Ignition wiring on o/s wing

I’m trying to fix some ignition problems and can’t understand the coil wiring.
there are two wires from the coil to a silver grey box on the o/s inner wing
from there one wire runs to an earth, and a fourth runs back across the engine bay to the LT on the distributor
there is what looks like the original LT wire unconnected and another unconnected wire coming out of the wiring loom
And there is a connection to a condenser (I think) bolted to the rocker cover
I think the silver box must be some sort if suppressor unit. It’s definitely an aftermarket addition, and not done particularly well

    does anyone recognise it?
can I just remove it or is it doing something useful?

If the box has a removable it might help to see what’s inside, other than that I’d be tempted to restore the original wiring and see what happens - even if on a trial basis to begin with.

Silver box may be some sort of ignition amplifier. What is inside the distributor? If it is an amplifier then you may find some sort of electronic pick up.

          Cannot abide aftermarket wiring.

rip it all out… go back to standard!

          apologies for rant.

Thanksf for the advice. I agree about aftermarket wiring. It’s all disconnected and 3verything seems OK
ignition amplifier seems the most likely. I’ll seeif the local Lucas agents can identify
meanwhile a couple more pics if B151AEC0-4550-48DD-BE0F-AE0638F04749.jpg anyone has other ideas
                thanks again
