    Reassembling lube

Hi everyone, about to reassemble cylinder heads, what’s the best way reassemble lube or new engine oil. The reassemble lube seems quite sticky. Also when you apply is it just the parts that will see friction/ touching parts or is it best to give everything a coat of oil. Many thanks Steve

Personally I just use oil, and make sure everything is covered.
Assembly lube is better if the engine is going to be standing for a long while after it is built as it doesn't drain away. I always build oil pressure with a drill on the oil pump shaft before fitting the distributor, generally the last job I do before starting a rebuilt engine for the first time.

        Engine oil should be fine.

However the head studs should be assembled using a suitable grease

The galvanic seizures if other greases are used can be awful.

            what he ^^ said..

If standing for a while then a smear of graphogen works well

I like RedLine assembly lube for bearings etc bar the camshafts which tend to require moly based lubes but go with the recommendation of your cam supplier. I know some folk use cam lube for here there and everywhere but too much can result in bore glazing by preventing the wear that you need when running in to bed the rings.

A thin smear of engine oil on the piston/bores is all you need.

I agree with Neil about building up oil pressure using a battery drill on the oil pump shaft but make sure that you have the torque setting low!
