    Dash led's and clock

Hi,just putting my dash back together and had bought some replacement leds from the classic led company, just two thoughts, the led's look longer than the original bulbs,do they fit straight in?and any tips on removing the old bulbs without breaking them as the seam to be fairly siezed in at the moment!!
Whilst on this subject after seeing "sujitroy's" helpful youtube video on removing and cleaning up the instrument glasses, the only one i haven't managed to do is the clock as the centre adjuster knob seams to be stuck on (rightly or wrongly)and as it's fairly clean i don't want to break it,the clock is the German "Kienzle" make on my late 73 mk2 stag.has anyone taken one apart?
    Thank's,Adrian.

The clock bezel has to be prized off afaicr.

any splits are hidden usually though.

i had a nos clock bought for me a few years back….

sadly it began to loose time though and I don’t think it can be repaired…. Its a plastic bowl type (Austin Rover / unipart replacement alloy bezel, not chrome)

I don’t know much about the led bulbs sorry…. But I found classic car leds super helpful…. Even when I ordered incorrect +ve earth bulbs by mistake.

If you have bought LEDs for the warning cluster - remember to keep an original incandescent bulb for the "ignition/charging" lamp, as the alternator will/may not excite with an LED bulb there without additional mods.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

just done mine, no problems with the instrument cluster so long as you cut the holders as per the instructions and leave the ignition lamp alone.

Replaced all my dash and warning light cluster bulbs with no trouble. You do have to cut the bulb holder in the cluster but if you follow the instructions its easy enough. I can actually see the gauges at night now and see if they are illuminating in day light!. if you fit LED bulbs to the gauges you will need to bypass the dimmer switch as the LEDs wont work if its still connected

There was an article in Six Appeal about five months back providing a step-by-step guide to repairing a Kienzle.

I thought I read somewhere that one LED company can now provide the ignition led bulb that "excites" and therefore does not require 3,000 revs to enable the gauge to show charge.
It could be though that I'm mixing up the other method of soldering in a resister.
I take it that -ve led bulbs are needed from your comment?
