Combined oil pressure and water temperature gauge - advice

I am considering fitting a combined oil pressure and water temperature gauge, I think this is a reasonably common modification (comments on the worry gauge acknowledged). Rimmer Bros sell one listed under a Dolomite parts. The Rimmer Bros catalogue mentions needing a modification to the right-hand head rear water jacket? Is this necessary? Any advice on fitting such a gauge would be much appreciated.

You can fit it to the lh head where the OE water temp sender is located. They’re referring to linking the 2 heads which is not an unreasonable mod. Shown on the Grampian Stag technical page and probably in here if you do a search. There is a TR6 gauge that looks almost exactly like the rest of the stag gauges if you can find one. The oil pressure sender needs an adaptor into the housing. If you fit one be careful when you tighten it up as most come with a unf thread when iirc it should be bsp

I have used those for 30+ years, my Stags have always had one.
The temp sensor is fitted into the RH head with an adapter.

I have one of those, just needed a thread adaptor to fit the temperature sensing bulb in the original sender position. Was some years back, so cannot recall the threads!

One thing though - I got a 0-60psi oil pressure gauge so that I got more sensible needle deflection - 0-100psi is over the top for a Stag and means that normal running is less than 50% deflection. Got it from Holdens IIRC.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Had one on mine for 25 years plus, it's an MGB item which I originally bought from MGB - Hive https://mgbhive.co.uk/

All you need is a t piece for the oil pressure switch and replace the temperature sender with the capliliary one from the MG gauge, simple job and gives a totally accurate reading for both oil pressure and temperature in one gauge.
