    Wheelz.
More than just interesting! I think every Stag owner should have the opportunity to read it, (in the magazine perhaps?) and realise that under no circumstances should it ever be used in a Stag, or just about any other car in the UK I reckon.
    Mike.

Thanks for sharing Wheelz - as Mike says, this is valuable research. I will continue using the coolant specified by Triumph with flushing at intervals.

As has been said, I think that keeping on top of maintenance has been the key, make sure that everything is in good condition and I flush the cooling system through every couple of years and change the coolant. I've used both anto freeze and a corrosion inhibitor with the same result.
You have far more consistent hot days there in Western Australia than here in Melbourne. 35 here today, 36 tomorrow.
The car with a factory radiator would have no problem in WA with "keeping on top of maintenance" as you mention. I just can't see the need for waterless coolants.
The needle just below vertical is where it should be, mine's the same.
Although it'd be tough going without AC.

I've found the standard cooling system to be certainly adequate here provided 'proper maintenance' is followed. Nothing special required here.
The factory radiator was the best for cooling as it had the tubes spread out rather than in line.
They were big here on flogging an in line tube re core when the time came but that was probably due to the fact that we couldn't get the original UK core or it was just cheaper to re core the radiator with the locally made/sourced core at the time.

Worked on a stag this year that had an all original cooling system…. From 1977…. Including head gaskets, radiator, water pump, hoses and clips.

              never overheated.

only engine work was timing chains and ignition system.

              no snake oil used.
