    Introducing New member

    Hi Folks,

I've been lurking for a while since becoming a Stag owner a few months ago. I've been (and remain) a long standing member of the TR Register having owned a TR6 and latterly a TR4A which I took through a nut and bolt restoration. Having got the 4A to a state where I was really happy with it - power steering, 89mm engine etc - it caught fire in August and was a total loss. The insurance paid out and I've now scratched an itch I've had for a while and taken on EUE 775K a Mk 1. It turns out that this car was owned by a fellow TR register member having had it passed to him by his mother who was its first owner.

Inevitably with my history I've undertaken a few mods already - Minilites, Weber, new woodwork (yet to be fitted) and I expect I'll have loads of questions for the forum in due course.

In spite of my login name, which is a play on EUE (Hughie - Geddit?), my given name is Pete.

    It's good to be here.

    Pete

You can have more fun in a Stag than in an Aston Martin…..probably.

Sad to read about your TR, but that Stag looks very nice indeed. Enjoy.

Thanks for the welcome folks. I'm not Peter Franks btw.

I'm retired and now work part time as a volunteer guide and educator at the National Museum of Computing which is located in Block H on the Bletchley Park campus. I've run several guided tours for TR Register members over the years - another due in April 2025. At some point I'll gauge interest in the SOC and offer the same to this group - it's for a good cause. Cost would be about £15 per head for seniors. You can learn a bit more about the museum at www.tnmoc.org. That's the end of the advert.

                  Hello Pete

Wecome to the forum. Interesting to hear about your connection with TNMOC, my background is computer science starting with university education at University of Manchester in the early 1970's - I was taught by the likes of Tom Kilburn and Dai Edwards who along with others, as you will know, played a big part in developments at the University / Ferranti / ICL from about 1948 onwards. During my ongoing career, mostly with radar and communications, I was lucky to meet many of those who had been involved at BP, though I wasn't always aware of their connections at the time. Still visit BP from time to time, and participate in the Computer Conservation Society and TNMOC online talks - very interesting, and a great record of national achivement. Volunteers such as yourself do a great job of educatiing and encouraging future generations of engineers, I do this through my work with Cranfield University and volunteering with a couple of prefessional institutes.
