Hi everyone, bought new polybushes for cross member but when pushed in they stretch, and I can’t get them to feed back in to make them flush both sides any suggestions greatly appreciated. Also the nuts that go onto the camshaft caps have a round ring on one side does this side fit against the cap. Many thanks Steve. IMG_0162.jpg IMG_0133.jpg

Hi Richard,yes it is steering rack mount. The superflex one’s do they come in two half’s and pushed in from either end or are they one complete bush. Sorry if that’s a silly question but still learning. I’m now trying to teach myself how to work out shim sizes for cam followers all good fun. Cheers Steve

polyurethane bushes, car suspension bushes, uprated car suspension, replacement car suspension bushes, suspension upgrades, polyurethane, bushes, suspension, polyurethane suspension, polyurethane car suspension bushes, suspension bushes, poly, urethane, supplier, distributor, superflex, car, parts, spares, Wells, somerset
Are these the style of bush you have?
shows each bush as a cotton reel, clean the inside of the hole on the cross member, lube up the bush and then squeeze one end of it into the hole, they are just flexible enough to do this by hand but if you strruggle you can try the thread rod. couple of big washers and 2 nuts process to pull it through. With a bit of wiggle it should work its way through and come out of the other end. once in place you can again lube up the steel shaft and slip that through the middle of the bush, these should just be a push fit.
Couple of gotchas on this job;
1. be sure to lube up the steering mount bolt before it goes into the bush tube to prevent it fusing as a giant lump of steel
2. loosen the steering intermediate shaft in the engine bay, you just need to loosen the pinch bolts, the rack will go not go back into exactly the same location and the result could be that the shaft UJ run tight and give some unusual sticky steering feelings.
