it is the thermostat without the foot for the Mk1, I always use 1/3 antifreeze, 2/3 water. Can't remember the capacity of the cooling system but I get my antifreeze in 25 litre drums so don't have to worry about how much I need

TV8, efi, fast road cams and home built manifolds. 246bhp 220lbft torque
Be sure what antifreeze has been used before OAT (pink) and E Glycol (Blue) "typically" are not compatible and will react with each other to potentially create wallpaper paste.
I avoid using OAT on older cooling systems, especially with the stag v8 and seals around the water pump. But you never know what a previous owner has lobbed in.
If you have a pink ish antifreeze then use the time without the thermostat to backflush it all out of the system and refill Ethylene Glycol
I run 35-40%ish concentrate and flush every 2 years
Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony
OAT's main issue in old vehicles is a lack of protection for copper and brass in systems. Modern cars tend not to use this materials, for example, radiators are often aluminium. But our old cars do.

Just as an aside I did mistakenly run my stag on OAT as some recommend it for rover v8s. All ran fine for a year with no leaks. Have replaced it with ethylene glycol now after a very thorough flushing out.

What do the temperatures go down to in winter where you live??
Mike.
I’m in the south of Wales and Bristol most of the time so rarely see much below zero! However, I use the 50/50 mix largely for the anti-corrosion properties. I run a standard cooling system with silicone hoses and rarely bother to look at the temperature gauge these days.
