    Tappet Shims

Here's a list of alternative engine shims that fit the Stag camshaft tappets. Does anyone know any others?

    Triumph TR7 / Dolomite 1850 & Sprint
    Saab 99
    Hesketh V1000
    Hillman Imp
    Lotus Esprit / Elite
    Coventry Climax
    Austin Maxi / Maestro 1600

QED Motorsport has a very wide range of the Lotus 907 ones.
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

Jaguar uses them post 1988 when they went to the same 0.610 diameter. There was something about the diameter of new ones all being made to 0.610 as they can also be used on older engines. But I certainly used my jag friend’s kit to do mine.

Agreed, they are my goto if I need shims. Massive range from 0.061" to 0.220" in 0.001" steps with just a couple of gaps. Cheap postage and very quick service - no association just used them a few times without issue.

          https://qedmotorsport.co.uk/product/...various-sizes/.

Prices are not bad either £2.60 + VAT upto 0.149" and £3.00 + VAT 0.150" and above. Postage charged at cost - usually Royal Mail Large Letter. Cheaper than Rimmers. Robsport is cheaper on some sizes but does not have such comprehensive stock.

I did remember reading somewhere that some shims are the correct diameter and will fit BUT they have a chamfer on one side and if not fitted the correct way up they can tip up and cause a bit of a mess - not sure if that is true but it does sound feesible.
Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!

            Good stuff.

afaiaa, the chamfered shims don’t cause any issues in a stag application.

pretty certain the chamfers are essential to have in some (non stag) applications though.
