        This subject has been raised before and a solution found. But details were not put on the forum for security reasons the solution was sent to the person with the problem by private message. Unfortunately I don't know the fix but am sure other members who do know will be along soon.

          Just PM'd, I get the whole "secret" thing but when most stags can be started with a length of wire and flat blade screwdriver I just think getting into the boot is the least of any old car owners worries.

            I'd think that knowing how to get something out of a locked car is of far greater interest and relevance to the less honest members of society than theft of a locked car.....

              Try an uneven tug from left underside;
              Try an uneven tug from right underside;

              if neither works, unscrew the lock, drop down.

              try pushing pushrod.

              if that doesn’t work, remove grip washer, remove lock; push pushrod. Refit after fixing issue.

                Let’s be honest, if the thief wants to get in, they will. Wonder what they’ll do with my spare coil and water

                  All security buys you is time. The more secure, the longer it takes a thief to get in, but they will get in. However, the boot is the safest place when you have a soft top / top down.

                    replace bootlid push button fixings with security torx fixings if you are that worried.

                    I kind of always worked along the lines of leaving nothing in the car that I couldn't live without.

                      Great idea, especially if the tea leaf is used to a modern car and its high-falutin self folding electric roof.
                      The process for folding a Stag roof isn't obvious until you know.

                          Never really worried about security. Door locks are useless and it is a soft top. The boot could be opened with a crow bar or a cordless angle grinder. But the stag or a stag tool kit isn't worth the effort. E type or Ferrari yes. But in the end it is a stag. Bigger worry is someone scraping it and the faf of sorting the insurance.
