I'm in the US and I'm trying to identify an automatic gearbox which came with a Stag engine. The body of this box does not look my BW35 gearbox. The plate has signs of red on it and someone mentioned the box could be from a 2000. 2000's were imported into the US in very small numbers. Wiki say the 2000 used a BW35. The bell housing is the same as my Stag BW35. The tail end looks the same as well. The breather unlike my BW35 is an an angle. The BW 35 goes straight up. The inhibitor switch location is different as well. Can anyone shed some light on this box?

It is a BW35 but not from a Stag. My MK1 definitely had the inhibit switch mounted vertically and the breather came off vertical as well. This looks like one from a T2000 or other car. This T2000 one on eBay looks the same as yours:
Like most things in the automotive industry there are numerous variations of the same basic part - mostly interchangeable but not always.
Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!
