Question For Federal Mk2 car owners.

I'm working on a project on the Mk2 Federal cars for our Magazine...

    Questions!

1.Anyone got a federal car with "Mk2" door latches? ( I suspect not!)

2.Anyone got a Mk2 where the handbrake also lights the Brake Warning light? rather than the glowing oil/brake warning. (I suspect not!)

3.Anyone else got a Mk2 with the ground switched interior lights (with the single contact door switch) I may have found one in the LD24xxx area, If so what is your body number.

    Thanks for the help

No to all of your questions Terry ..LOL

Im working on rewiring the dash wiring to UK spec on mine to No. 2. Job in slow progress .....

As for 3, Don't buy the TR switch offered by usual suppliers without rewiring it. As is it switches direct to negative. I just used the body part to renew the existing switch.

Thanks Malc, what’s your commission number area?

      My investigation is ongoing..
It appears that the federals were made in batches and a batch was made in June/July 73 which may have been the last batch as there are none listed in the USA register from after that.
my car is a June car with LD233xx and has “mk1” doors, interior lights and brake warning wiring.
the latest car I can find is a July build in the high LD249xx area.

I don’t think mk2 doors made it to the federals, they have special strengthened doors and they probably didn’t bother to make new versions.

I have had one report of grounded interior lights on a very late car.

Nothing on the brake warning light yet.
I rewired mine, that series thing seems flaky!

#3 —/ Funny you should say that!

My switch broke last night.. but I am going to buy the grounding switch, looking at the pics I think I can use it to replace the plastic plunger on the broken 2 terminal one.. if not I’ll get a micro relay and wire that in on the new switch, seems the easiest solution.
