    Electric Windows

The drivers door window on my car will close but not open. The winder motor works on the bench OK but will not work correctly once put back in the door. Checked all wiring and switches and cannot find any issues. I have replaced the felt in the window channel as the old stuff fell out. This is when the trouble started. Glass slides up and down OK when the motor is disconnected so it is not binding. Help Any ideas anyone.

I might still suspect the switch, or the wiring between the switch and the motor. Going to be an o/c or high resistance connection somewhere there.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

I agree with Wilf. It was always been the switch when it happened to me. Try swapping them over and see what happens. If the passenger one then won't work, you will know it is the switch.
They aren't all that difficult to take to pieces to clean the contacts, which will have got a bit corroded after fifty years!
A lot cheaper than buying new ones which may not be as well made as the originals.
