    John.
I fitted one to my car as I was constantly forgetting to cancel them.
It was a simple case of unplugging the standard one and plugging in the Ebay special. it may be just that with the one on your car.
I must admit it was unacceptably noisy, but I "Adjusted" it by sticking a bit of insulating tape over the hole where the noise came out. Maybe that would work for you as well?

Check the car hasn't been converted to LED indicators - a standard one won't work if it has.
Auto transmission rebuilding since 1979 - for my sins!

I did the exact same thing as a bit "mutton Jeff" now, but since I got a hearing aid might have to put a bit more tape on it, I do have a motor bike/ car one somewhere that stop when you have the brake on at the lights

And if they have, Classic car LEDs have a suitable flasher unit (which from personal experience, works just fine).

Same experience as Wilf, I bought one of these 18 months ago and it works perfectly ...

I'd fit an LED one like the above as my OEM reply sometimes wouldn't flash the indicators let alone click. I suspected higher resistance in the wires/bulbs? LED one cured the problem

And just as an FYI - if you do fit LED indicators, leave the front wing repeater bulbs as they were, then your hazard warning flasher will still work as normal. But you will still need the above unit for the normal turn indicator flasher.
