    "Underneath the arches...."

I'd be grateful for any tips on treating the wheel arches. So far they have been wire brushed and given a slap-dash spray of red-oxide rust proof primer.

Should I use underseal for a top coat (which will be a bit dark and gloomy) or can I just rattle can it with body-colour spray paint?

    Thank you!

Your choice really, I chose a 3m black underbody spray.
    its lasted 25 years well.

body colour underneath can be a bind to keep looking nice….

I used a couple of coats of Frost paint over stonechip
Extreme Paint over Stone Chip Black 500ml. Stonechip is a repaintable plastic protective, single component. Ideal for repairing underdoor and sidebands, wheel arches and underbody.

Followed by another couple of coats of Por15 top coat
POR15 Top Coat Red Aerosol (368g) from Frost.co.uk - The Specialist for High Quality Tools and Equipment for the Automotive Restorer.

Though a couple of shades different from the signal red paintwork, within the arches the Por15 red worked out quite well I think. PXL_20240122_105811805.jpg

Thanks, that looks like good stuff and not too expensive.

I use a 1k chassis paint on most underbody stuff I do, pretty tough, can be brushed or sprayed on. Then overcoat in vulnerable areas with a stoneguard and / or underbody wax from the likes of Bilt Hamber etc

rust.co.uk do a series of paints for all areas, the 121 epoxy mastic sticks like something to a blanket https://www.rust.co.uk/product/cat/e...roofing-paint/

Or something like Raptor which I have seen mixed up to the body colour

I used 121 mastic, and then seam sealed and Graitex chip guard then body colour to finish.

              Similar to M&M
I used epoxy primer on the bare metal, seam sealer and 3M "Rocker Schultz" followed by a colour coat. That's the second car I have done that way and its very hard wearing.

Thanks gents, you could eat your dinner off some of those wheel arches. Like the rotisserie, dread to think how long the full restoration took - taken me 2 months to do one sill!
