    Distributor spanner.

    Recently seen a few 7/16 distributor spanners for Sale at about 120 quid.

    nice snap on examples.

    heres my cheaper version

        might have to make one, shouldn't be difficult. usually take 1min to remove the ignition coil and then use a standard 7/16 ring end spanner

          Looks like my lucky find many years ago has proved a valuable investment. I'll try not to let it change my life

          It does make adjustment easier but, as has been said, they aren't essential - especially if removing/replacing the distributor.

            Mine came from Ebay some time ago when they were somewhat cheaper, I keep it in a safe at the bank of England as it's recently achieved a better return than my US retirement investments ...

              Made my own from a modified socket drilled to take an L shaped round bar

              Cost nothing....

                I used oxy-acetylene to warm up and bend my cheap spanner.

                The oxy-acetylene was probably about £ 120 to light up

                  I have a 1/4 inch drive 7/16 socket integrated with a universal joint on an extension. It works well. The regular socket on the end of a universal joint is too tall.

                      Yep. Got sets in metric & imperial. Don't use them often, but it's a no-brainer addition as you normally have all the extensions and ratchets anyway.

                        crows foot is ok but a fiddle, never seems to point where you need it to point. then it doesn't quite have the range to get onto the next flat. 12point ring end would work better

                        or lift ignition coil of mount bolts and use a standard 7/16 spanner
