    oh shyte

So.... just had some work done on the car, new suspension stuff etc. BUT now the cooling system doesn't seem to pressurize up, (top hose doesn't seem to get hard...) and the coolant seems to go into the overflow bottle. Any ideas ?

Overflow bottle has a leak? (possibly around the crimped collar)
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Overflow bottle is definitely a candidate in my experience as Wilf says, and if I remember rightly there are 14 hose clamps in the cooling system that might need checking if any have been disturbed, especially the ones connecting with the thermostat cover or water pump cover which may not make a good seal at the first attempt if the alloy is pitted where it fits inside the hose.

Another thought? Alongside checking all the joints, was the water filled with the front raised and the heating matrix fully open?

            Robin.
Why the Front Raising? The highest vented point in the cooling system is the radiator filler bung, provided the car isn't facing steeply down hill. The engine has to be running to clear any air from the heater.

              Test cylinder compressions.

              Test cooling system pressure.

              take it from there.
