Does anyone know anything about Steve Barden (who posts on ebay and facebook about a full respray service)?

Ebay just pulled his listing and account - hardly surprising as he was advocating bypassing ebay's rake off.

Recently had my 74 Mk2 resprayed by Steve and he did a good job at a reasonable price as well as keeping me up dated on progress whilst he had my car.

Paint is one thing I don't get involved in any more, too many people expect a £20k job but only want to spend 4. At the rate advertised I would be expecting a good 3ft paint job, probably not done exactly to my taste but good enough to make a solid but tatty car look a lot better.

he cannot be working at much more than minimum wage by including stripping down and refitting, and all the prep and remedial repair. I cannot imagine that he would cover engine bay or even think about a colour change

From my own experiences it has taken me a week to strip down and prep a car for paint, long hours too, that would be for a classic Range Rover though which has a lot of square footage of paint to deal with but then also a lot of birmabrite / aluminium panels. Paint itself got done over a weekend in a different workshop, mask up friday night, primer saturday, remask saturday night and topcoat sunday morning first thing, then afternoon to flat back and get it back to my workshop for a week of refitting.

And then someone moans like hell that whilst the paint is better than the factory ever managed it is not quite Bentley standard
