Mk1 air box horns - cold air feed?

I've been thinking about this for a while - has any Mk1 owner converted their car to channel outside air into the air box horns?

The Stag as built uses the twin-horned air box sucking in air from just above and behind the radiator - temps likely to be 90 degrees.
The Mk2 introduced the rectangular air box and rubber sock to connect into an outside air supply above and in front of the radiator.
Standard car science says this gives a slight performance boost - cooler air is denser etc.

Apart from swapping air boxes and radiator top mount is there a simple way to feed in cooler air.
(I did look at removing the top mounting bracket all together but worried that the radiator needed the support up top.

    Thanks

I have 2 Mk1 Fed. they use the Mk2 set up. I suspect it should be as simple as swapping the filter box and and adding the bit on top of the rad. get the rubber bellow from Baines. they seem to sell longer lasting ones.

The mk2 box has that flap in it and some additional pipe work. if the flap doesn't operate, then there is no need to repipe it.

Thermostatic inlet was introduced at LD3118, according to James Taylor's Original Triumph Stag, the Restorer's Guide.
