    Clutch kit from EJWards

I've been struggling with a heavy clutch since getting a manual Stag on the road. It was fitted with a Borg and Beck clutch with a generic clutch release bearing. Everyone said to get the correct unobtainable RHP bearing. With not much luck in getting the bearing I ordered a reconditioned clutch kit from EJWards. Their kit comes with the Koyo RCT52S bearing. In another post I made about this bearing, many folks said not to use this bearing. I'm in UK vising my mum and the kit is with me so I can't compare my original clutch plate with the EJWard's plate. For those of you who have used the Ward's clutch kit, is your clutch heavy?

Both Chris01573 and myself have struggled with new Borg and Beck clutches in the stag. Need to be Mr universe to hold the pedal down at the traffic lights.

Chris went to EJ Wards and has one of their setup fitted to his stag.

I went uos and nos clutch plate that had been relined.

Release bearing I got from Tony White nos

I have the Koyo release bearing fitted when my engine was rebuilt, and initially the pedal was light, but has become increasingly heavy. Quite soon after it was fitted I noticed a squeal at tickover caused by the bearing rubbing on the fingers of the clutch plate. I’ve since fitted an adjustable push rod with pull off spring so that now it only squeals briefly just as you press the pedal down.

I got my hands on an RHP bearing— one day…

So what other options for clutches are available aside from B&B?

I fitted a complete clutch kit from Robsport (non Borg and Beck) and it is indeed very heavy

If the Release bearing contact diameter is bigger than original:- makes loads higher

I spoke to Edward's this morning. They say based on the clutch bearings currently available, their clutch plates are rebuild to match. They said they are slightly heavier than stock. I asked what the difference is between their uprated bearing carrier than the stock on. They said the only difference is, their one doesn't use the roll pin to prevent it from rotating.

Done many clutches in my time but didn’t know exactly how the pressure plate works.. this video explains it well.
