    Supporting on axle stands.

    Advice ,please, on safest place to axle stand/support ,Stag ,whilst all wheels are off? Last time I jacked up on offside only,to check shoes, I couldn`t shut the drivers door after opening it!

    Its not a spitfire that bends in the middle when jacked up...I would not be happy if mine bends so you can't shut the door, you do have the tee bar in place don't you?

        whoops,sorry jumped the gun on replies. my spitfire is ok jacking either corner,and yes the T bar is fitted to the beast.

          I use the front cross member and the rear swinging arms by the bushes. or if you are planning on removing the rear subframe etc then a strong piece of wood right across the width of the car.

          If you use the search facility above, some more ideas will come up.

              The stags a strong car though, no matter where you jack it, it should not bend so much so you can't shut the door. Mine doesn't bend to such an extent, if at all:?

                  Don't want to scare you, but certainly with the tee bar in place if it bends so such something is giving way to cause such a deflection.

                  Are you sure its not a case that the door catch plate is very tight anyway maybe out of adjustment and the slightest movement is enough to prevent the door from closing?

                    Hiya, jack the back up on the back of the diff, then place axle stands under the jacking pins with wood inbetween. Jack the front under the crossmember, making sure you don't snag the sump, then axle stands under the large chassis members that run fore and aft. What I usually do, is axle stand the front, then jack up the back as stated, I couldn't possibly recommend this as it's not safe. Anon.

                      I lifted my car up and put blocks under the wheels until I get the height to where I want it then I used wood cribing to block it up and then removed the block from under the wheels. When I do this its a bit like raising the car up a bit at a time ,I finally made a frame for it to sit on using the jacking points which I believe is the best place to support it. Even with my frame I still use axle stands or wooden blocks just in case. You can never tell when an earthquake will hit out here in Califonia
