hi guys, i'm taking my rocker covers off to replace the gaskets. i want to spray the covers, what colour is best and the most original?
thanks
alan
Just in case you can't find the thread, usually Ford Stratos Silver is recommended for the Cam covers (that is the one i have used recently) , i have also heard of, i think, Stardust Silverbeing used.
Just incase you were intending to paint the airbox, Ford Dove grey is the one for that.
thanks guys, found the thread and the colours, yes doing the air box too as it will be off anyway, just need the sticker to go back on flea bay will do for that i think.
the engines bays are geourgous on here, i'm hoping to get mine something like, i dont need the engine out though as she runs fine and the paintwork is the original. talking of that, mine is white, colour 19, but its more of an old english white a cremey colour. its on all the interior panels, inside of boot, bonnet, engine bay etc so i know its the original colour. i bet i have to have the engine out to paint the bay properly, what do you suggest?
thanks for the links and the input lads it appreciated
Have a look at the Tues Nov 11 2008 thread. Some good pics and advise.
I am interested in this subject but I'll be b******d if I can find the Tues Nov 11 2008 thread. I've put everything I can think of in the 'search' box and I've gone right back to page 197 of the archives without success so, can anybody tell me the easiest way to find it?
Good point - but maybe he's got a one-off Stag with Sprint heads
did a sprint not have a overhead cam?
Yes it did - but it also had rockers :?That was the clever thing about it - and which helped it win a British design Council award. IIRC it was the world's first four valve per cylinder engine that operated with only a single camshaft. That operated directly on one set of valves (Can't remember if it was inlet or exhaust) and then the rockers ran off the back of the same camshaft and operated the other set of valves.
So, you could say that Sprint had eithe rcam or rocker (or both) covers :?
