    Mating connections

Just bought a set of headlight bulbs from Paddocks, which include two h4 type glb472x bulbs to function as dip head lights in the accompanying new glass bowls. These are supposed to replace the h2 bulbs in the original bowls with a built in dipping shroud. Apparently I'm supposed to connect to just the common and dip terminals, the main being ignored. I'd like to except the terminals on the h4 bulb are bigger than the existing mating connections. What solutions has anyone else arrived at to solving this problem.

You can buy bigger spades from decent auto elecrical supplier. Try AES in Tenbury Wells. You need 7.7mm size. Either replace existing terminals or make up short adaptor leads. While you are at it you could wire the main beam filaments so you would have 4 main beam bulbs. You should use relays.

Try this company. I use the 3-way connectors ref 5736 or MBC.

I dont see why Paddocks dont put a set of these in with their H4 headlamps.

        This does the trick:

They also do the complete kit including light units:

          Thank everyone!
Nice site Vmad, done and done. I will be contacting Padocks with the suggestion.
Dave, will take this route at future date when the pennies accumulate.

I used those connectors recently for my total re-wire. All four headlights now work on both DIP and MAIN.

I had the same problem last year , spoke to mr Paddock who supplied an adapter loom from the existing bullet connections to an H4 plug to fit the new bulb . From memory i think he said it was from a vitesse, it was a little on the long side but worked well.

              regards Paul
