    New Tyres Fouling Front Springs

Hi I have just had 4x new tyres fitted Falken 205x70x14 whilst they look GREAT the two front tyres are just touching the springs.
I decided on these tyres after looking at all the recommendations on the forum and as no one else seems to have had any problems with this size I am wondering what is different with my car.
Is it possible to add a spacer between the wheels and hub to get clearance?
    Any advice appreciated.

just checked my car which has 205's on and there is a good 2-3" still between the springs and the wheels, i know this does not help you much other than to confirm something is wrong

      Hi Ian

      Thanks for your quick response.
It makes no sense to me unless I need to check the angle of the wheel to vertical.
It looks ok and drives well and I had the tracking done two weeks prior to fitting the tyres.

      Cheers

First check i would do is check the offset of the wheel. If they are minilights or the like they could be wrong.

        Cheers Steve

          Hi
The wheels are just standard wheels.

            Hi Worthers

I have the same tyres fitted on original wheels and have about 1/2 inch clearance to the spring, but i think it will vary from car to car

You could always fit some wheel spacers which would solve the problem if there's nothing else amiss

I have the exact same sizetyres fitted and they rub ever so slightly on the suspension lower arm on full lock not the springs? Standard wheels and standard backspace and offset.

As had already been said varies from car to car i guess

              try these

Is your car lowered at the front?

Get your front wheel camber checked.

Is it possible that you have Triumph 2.5 wheels and not Stag? they look similar.

                    Hi Worthers

I have just had these tyres fitted and the wheels refurbed at the same time, it looks like I may have the same problem but I havn't moved the car yet to settle the suspension after jacking so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

                    Hi Bob

                    I didn't know there is a difference

I always believed the wheels are the same diameter and thickness but the valve hole is not in line with the spoke like the Stag wheel:?

Had me worried for a minute (as I've bought a set to re-condition) but I checked my parts manuals and 2500 alloys are the same GKN alloys as the Stag - part number 313250.

I hear that if the Tr2000 PAS rackis fitted this can happen.

I thought it was some of the aftermarket alloys that have the valve in the wrong place. (I have one of those on mine and it is otherwise dimensionally the same.
